About 3000km of cycling from Vancouver to San Diego. A memorable ride for countless reasons, no doubt. Feels right to end this adventure, here and for now, and return to more familiar people and places... Keep striving to learn, live, love, and give wherever I go. #NoMoreRamen #TillNextTime #PacificCoastCycling #IceCubesAreALuxury
Beachside cruising somewhere between Santa Barbara and Santa Monica. Far more people, cars, and RVs as the miles till Los Angeles dwindle. Dedicated bike paths make the ride feel more comfortable. Periodic dips into the cool ocean help, too!
This is a long-overdue shout-out to every dose of generosity and kindness I’ve received from strangers on this Pacific Coast ride. Whether gifted in the form of words, food, accommodations, coffee, or a friendly honk, I’ve cherished them all. These pictures are from a recent evening at El Capitan State Beach... Soon after a fellow cyclist and I arrived at another campground after a particularly long day of riding, these angels from a neighbouring campsite unexpectedly delivered an amazing Mexican-style dinner, an ice-cold Gatorade, and a plate of s’mores. Simply because they thought we might appreciate the meal [We did!]... More than any scene or view, these are the connections that carry the greatest meaning. Awesome people are everywhere. Often, all it takes is opening up and shining a light. [Thank You]
Riding through Big Sur. Favourite days of riding, no doubt. Demanding climbs and beauty descents with the road etched into the oceanside cliffs and hills. Sun shining all the way. Everything connected along this stretch. Worth another visit on its own. #BigSur #PacificCoastCycling #SoManyViews
Blue-skies cruise around the coastline of Monterey Bay. Sun finally seems to be hanging around for more than hour or two. Life is all kinds of beautiful. #Monterey #PacificCoastCycle #SkiesOutThighsOut
Half Moon Bay State Beach. Camping within earshot of breaking waves [and walking distance to tacos]. Treasuring a rare blue-skies afternoon on the coast during the month of “Fog”-ust. One of my favourite oceanside camping spots along the California coast. #HalfMoonBay #FrancisCampground #TacosForFuel
